I’ve had deer coming in to my apple trees which are conveniently across my driveway and next to my 1909 barn.
I made a raised platform out of an old door and a couple sawhorses so I could shoot thru a window opening. Had my first opportunity last week and shot over the back of a big doe without fawns.
Later found out my peep had been knocked wonky when I hunted some timber a couple days prior. Corrected that and verified on the target.
Yesterday had 2 smaller does come through without stopping. Then at 7am a 4x4 buck came through about 50 yards out. I let him get past me before I tried a doe bleat call. He turned right around and came in to stand between 2 apple trees I had previously lasered for 19 yards.
Double lung puncture with my trusted muzzy 3 bladed 100gr broadhead off my old mathews solocam legacy bow.
He went about 50 yards where I had to fish him out of the creek but he is on ice until I cut meat this weekend.
Got a really busy calendar this fall and was hoping to get one easy and early. Doesn’t get much easier than walking 50 paces from my door and sitting in my old barn.

Congrats on your buck and thanks for relating a great story to us. In my experience 50 yards is about the average for a deer with both lungs out of commission.
