Democratic state rep. Naomi Jakobsson has a new postcard she is sending out. If you are in her district help vote her out!!!

Illinois and Maryland are probably the last two states where scare tactics like that will actually work.

Sad.

Helmetcase

I should email her a link to your website/blog.

Unfortunately I don't think she will be swayed on this issue.

This is in southern Illinois, you would think she would back off on the rhetoric. With it being a university town there must be enough folks of the same persuasion to make her scare tactics work.

Heh, you think my ideas get a rude reception here once in a while? Ha! This place is tranquil for me. You should see the reception I get from people like her over at Washingtonmonthly.com.

The few Democrats still dumb enough to think campaigning on a gun control platform is a good idea really, really, REALLY don't take kindly to being reminded just how politically stupid and suicidal policy-wise gun control really is. Most of them just shrug my ideas off and don't care about gun control one way or the other...but the few who still fancy a utopian gun-free world get quite nasty in a hurry.

But yeah, send her my link and remind her that she's polishing the brass on the Titanic. The American people have spoken, they swept the Dems from power last time they tried that in 1994 and they'll do it again if they don't wisen up.

What the heck is that rifle pic she's using for an "Assault Weapon"? LOL it looks kind of like a lever action cowboy gun but there's no lever. Thats kinda scary really, means she thinks anything thats not a single shot is an "Assault Weapon".

OpFlash -

Look close...the picture is of a Benelli shotgun. It looks like one of the M1/M4 varieties favored by law enforcement.

Those of us who reside in Illinois are seeing this kind of thing constantly in TV ads and mailers from Dems who are seeking office. I have spoken at length with fellow students who worked for the Dems down in Springfield and have tried to explain to them how many votes they could pick up if the party would drop the gun control plank.

They (meaning the Dems) just don't understand that a pro-gun voter...who is a third generation union guy will vote against his "party" when it comes to guns.

Their loss....Republican gain.

If you think Illinois is bad ...

... and it is.

It's a state run completely by the Chicago Democrat machine for over 25 years.

Just imagine what the country will be like if they get to run the House and Senate again.

All it will take to place everyone's gun rights at risk is a change in the chairmanship of a few house and senate committees.

This isn't a scare tactic, it's simple fact with hard evidence that we in Illinois live with every day to back it up.

Are you all ready to have your FOID card issued? Ready to give up those "Assault" Marlin Model 60's? Ready for changes and court challenges to your Concealed Carry Laws?

Welcome to our world.

Southern Illinois requests that you not associate us with nasty central illinois politicians. :neener:

I know traditionally everything outside of chicago is southern illinois but please...

I also appreciate that they even managed to work her sitting with children into the card because we all know its for the children.

The 3 or 4 times I drove through So. Ill to take my oldest to school in Carbondale I was favorably impressed with the region. Lots of character, up to about an hour south of Springfield.

Urbana is a liberal pesthole, which makes Champaign County a blue spot in a red sea.

(I lived there from the late 1970s through 1991. I thought that woman's name sounded familiar.)

As others have stated, this is how things are done in Illinois. Urbana and most other college towns are going to be blue dots in a sea of red simply because the local population are primarily college students from blue areas.

Either way I am expecting to be able to leave in January. And when I do I will not be coming back except for vacations.

Are US college students that dumb? Or is it the silent majority effect?
I mean... I am a university student here in Prague, and I daresay most of my fellow students of electrical engineering would percieve any campaign against guns as ridiculous.
No one around here can deny, with a straight face that: the statement "If we outlaw guns, outlaws would still have them" is false.
There are far more pressing concerns and serious issues around here, and fortunately, political campaigns are not yet completely divorced from real issues.

We live in a safe wealthy society and these "kids" have grown up in a protected bubble. They see no need for guns, they have always been kept safe.

Contrary to the propaganda you have probably read about the US, the vast overwhelming majority of us will never be victums of any violent crime. Hence the young minds full of mush buy into the proffesors leftist drivel and repeat it as the truth.

The shotgun as an "assult weapon" was the first thing I noticed. Its like if this was a campaign for puppy reform and they had a rabbit in the picture. If it goes bang its an assult weapon...

One more state to never visit.

Man, how come I never get lucky enough to come across one of these guns on our streets?

Assault weapons have one purpose: To kill [bad people].

IL AWB

Aren't Armalite and Rock River Arms based in IL ? I wonder if they would consider leaving for a more gun-friendly state, thereby depriving IL of tax revenue.

The military uses AKs without buttstocks? How do they aim?

Also, why is she trying to ban shotguns on the second page? I thought they werent going after hunters and skeet shooters.

Armalite, Rock River Arms, Springfield Armory, Les Baer and Winchester Ammunition are all in the state of Illinois.

Yup. I live 10 minutes away from Olin Brass Works (Winchester) and shoot at their range quite often. Most of my dads side of the family either works at or has retired from Winchester. My Grandpa spent 40 years dumping brass casings into a tumbler. My Uncle was a head machinist, and the lucky bastard down the street from me gets paid to test fire case lots all day (hes the best shot I have ever met). I agree sadly though these companies would be justified to pack up and move to more friendly states. Most of Illinois is quite pro gun. It is just the cesspools of Chicago, and the Urbana area that run politics round here and ruin things for the rest of us.

Out they go

"Armalite, Rock River Arms, Springfield Armory, Les Baer and Winchester Ammunition are all in the state of Illinois."

Blago was asked about the jobs and tax revenue that will be lost if he gets he and Daley's version of an Illinois AWB (Banning the manufacture, sale or possession ...).

His response was classic Illinois Democrat; "The lost jobs and revenue will be more than offset by the lives we will save".

No proof or logic involved boys, just print that as fact.
