Just got this NRA Alert.

Illinois Gun Ban Legislation to be Voted on Soon!
The Illinois General Assembly is back in session for 2006, and anti-gun extremists, led by anti-gun Governor Rod Blagojevich (D) and anti-gun Chicago Mayor Richard Daley (D), are already mounting an assault on the Second Amendment.

House Bill 2414, which seeks to ban certain semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, as well as .50 caliber rifles commonly used for hunting, could be brought up for a vote on the House floor as early as tomorrow, Wednesday, January 11.
HB 2414, originally introduced in February of 2005, has gone through a number of revisions in an effort to attract lawmakers who have mixed voting records on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Minor technical revisions have been made to give the appearance of "watering down" the bill, but the primary legislative goal of banning the future manufacture and transfer of current firearms remains unchanged.

Please contact your State Representative immediately and ask him or her to oppose this latest version of HB 2414!

HB 2414 will be voted on soon, so contact your Illinois lawmakers at (217) 782-8223. You can find further contact information by using NRA-ILA`s "Write Your Representatives" feature.

Time to warm up the phone lines. All you guys in the collar counties, lean on those RINOs up there. They are the bills only hope of passage. Hopefully we can kill this for the rest of the session.

Illinois got into this mess when back in 1970 (?), the sheeple voted for "Home Rule", which means that the pols can do anything they want to do. Then they came out with the idea for sheeple to buy a firearms card. I did for one yr. Needless to say, after being born and living in the Chicagoland area for over 30 yrs, I sold the house, packed up the kids and wife and moved to Minnesota 30 yrs ago. And you know what? I can carry here....either exposed (I won't) or concealed. I really feel sorry for the Chicagolanders...Daley, the Cubs, the Gov, and the way Illinois is becoming a "Gun Free" state.
(I'm still a die hard Cub fan. Maybe in 2008, 100 yrs after they last won the World Series, they'll win it again.....HA,,,fat chance!)
