Hello all

The very thought of Illinois Politicos arming themselves while disarming the citizens makes my stomach churn. Disgusting pieces of trash.
Il. citizens have to hear about this. My wife's family all live in Chicago. They all live in what I think is a state of ignorant bliss. I try to never go there, even though I enjoy her family. But, for my sons sake I am making a trip for a dying family member. I always feel like I'm behind enemy lines.:banghead:

Well what if you lived in Illinois? And say you had an ex-girlfriends new boyfriend threaten you. And he is a criminal and a gangmember.

You find your tires smashed and your tires slashed. Or you get a brick thrown through your front window and threatening letters in your mailbox. So you go down to the police station and get a restraining order. And you find that innefective after her new boyfriend assaults you with a bat and the police are unable to prove that he did it because your the only witness.

So you go and buy yourself a gun and holster. And you start carrying it around because he could assault you again. Better to be have a gun and not need it than need it and not have it, right?

So you get pulled over and the officer finds the gun. He arrests you for a UUW (Unlawful Use of a Weapon) which is a felony here in Illinois. It means no more guns or voting for you. I believe it is punishable by a few years in prison.

Then you go to court and the prosecutors ask why you had the gun? So you tell them that you carried it to protect yourself from a dangerous criminal who has made threats against you, assaulted you, and put you in fear of your life.

Well they cant let you go because that would mean they lost a case and would not look good so they lock you up for a few years.

In the meanwhile they continue to carry their guns legally because dangerous criminals have assualted them, threatened them, and made them fear for their lives.

But its a step in the right direction right?

A bill that will allow anyone other than LEOs to carry is a step forward! Is it a perfect situation, no.

And with your posting, just carry your weapon "off body". All you have to say is that you "found" the briefcase or shoudler bag (male purse!) and was bringing it to the PD anyways. Having a holster on you when not too smart when you are carrying without the blessing of the state.

Sorry if things don't move in leaps and bounds, that only happens in the movies. And don't be surprised if certain counties still ban the weapons except for carrying to and from work.

Jerry

Little steps can be a good thing, but only if they are in the right direction.

This is a little step towards elitism and tyranny. It is totally unacceptable and disgusting.

Allowing judges, prosecutors and public defenders to carry is pure elitism. The citizens of Illinois need to make it a package deal (you get to carry when we get to carry).

Yep..it is elitism through and through...but it would also serve as a great wedge for citizens to make some kind of "equal protection" argument. The folks who voted it down are smart enough to know that.
