Hi all...

I've been reading THR on and off over the last year but never posted before.

I've always supported gun owner rights but only recently exercised that right for myself. I also live in Illinois (NW Chicago burbs) where the laws are much less gun owner friendly than my home state of Indiana.

If anyone here could post some info on the current state of affairs for Illinois RKBA, groups to join, upcoming legislation, etc I'd appreciate it. I'd like to get involved in protecting and *recovering* our rights in this state.

Thanks!

Start with the ISRA

The Illinois State Rifle Association is a good place to start.

They have their good and bad points, but for now they are still the primary voice for the shooting sports and gun rights in Illinois.

Lately the ISRA, the NRA and Todd Vandermyde (sp?) have been doing a pretty good job downstate. They are about to over ride the "Boy King" vetoes on several pieces of crappy gun legislation that stunk up the place last session.

Once again we tried to "compromise" with the anti's by agreeing to NIC's checks on individuals selling at a gun show in return for destroying the illegal (and unconsitutional) buyers data base that Roddie wants to keep.

They immediately screwed us over and did a line item veto and signed on for the gun show check and removed the destruction of records clause.
