Just got this from the ISRA.

Please begin calling your State Representatives in support of
SB53,SB57 and SB2104. We expect bills these to be voted on next week.
These bills have all passed the Senate and are in the House.
Let's give the Governor an opportunity to sign them.

We have learned of an attempt to bring HB2414 back soon.
The language may be amended into another bill.
Be sure to let each person you call know that you oppose HB2414 or any bill like it.

I'm thoroughly confused about SB57. It mandates bakcground checks for private sales at gun shows, but it had a good preemption clause that would have overturned every municipal gun law with the exception of Chicago's. For reasons unbeknownst to me, however, the House Agriculture and Conservation Committee voted to remove the preemption language. All the bill does now is create a hassle for people at gun shows.

I called the ISRA yesterday, but apparently Pearson won't be available to take calls until tomorrow (I plan on contacting him again). Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on with this bill? I'm hoping they plan on slipping the preemption language back in once it reaches the full House, because right now this appears to be an anti-gun bill, yet the ISRA is still endorsing it.
