Well, I shot a Classifier tonight. I was in the low 100's in my practice sessions, but I ended up with a 115. Stages 1 and 2 were very good...but stage 3 kicked my ass!:cuss: It looks like I need more practice at 20 yards and I need to speed up a touch. Once I can get the hits, I'm sure the speed will come.

A side note:
Is anyone shooting the 2007 Great Lakes Classic in MI?

Well, I need to go update my score sheet address labels to EX.:D

Congrats! I too just shoot my first IDPA classifier 2 days ago and made Sharpshooter with a 127 (SSP). I was hoping to make at least Marksman in order to participate in the TX state, so was pleasantly surprised with SS.

Stage 3 is tough. I have to slowww dowwwnnnnn and get a more refined sight picture or there won't be much tape needed when I'm done.
I try to make up for it by reloading and moving faster.

Nice work on your first classifier j1133s.

You’ve got to get your hits on stage 3. Do a reload with retention when shooting from both sides of the barricade and a tac load when going to the barrel (you can stow on the move). There is a lot of good info here, http://www.ccidpa.org/clastips.html

Nice work on your first classifier j1133s.

Thank you HV. I was releived not to make Expert when the scores came out because I know I'll never be able to perform at that level. This classifier happened on one of those days that everything just seemed perfect.

I'll be over to PSC one of these days to put a more "reasonable" score by my name :)

I know I WILL perform at that level

There, I fixed it for you. ;) You will perform how you BELIEVE. Do not limit yourself by telling your subconscious that you can't, won't or unable to do something. YOU CAN DO IT!

Do not take the mental aspect of the game lightly, it's HUGE.

I shot my first SSR classifier on the 8th with my M-64-5. I have not done much shooting as I was out of country. I qualed as a MM, but I was pretty happy with my times as I was only 3 seconds off from SS and I haven't tried to really shoot with a revolver in a decade. Next time I know I will make SS!

My goal is to get qualed to shoot each catagory.

jmorris,
I've been in so many arguments about the whole Tac Load thing that I could :barf: . Certain SO's think that you must stow the mag before you even think about leaving cover. I often draw a spare mag after I've neutralized the threats and I'm moving towards cover. Once I reach cover, I do the reload, and move on with CoF. They say, "nice IPSC speed-load, have a procedural". Huh?

Reload must be complete before you leave cover. Mag seated and slide forward, you can stow on the move but your gun must be ready to go (or +3).

Great Lakes Regional

I will be shooting the Great Lakes Regional. I am really looking forward to shooting this match. It should be a good time but may be crowded since the sunday option was cancelled !!!!

Yeah, that whole Saturday consolidation thing kinda screwed me. Now I have to shoot on my anniversary! That went over like a fart in church, when I brought it up to SWMBO. I was gonna catch a ride with a buddy, but now I have to drive separately, so I can leave immediately after shooting. Oh well, add another $60 in fuel costs. At least my anniversary will be saved.:D
