I just wanted to share, because everybody loves pics. You can scroll past the story if you want.
I've been playing the AR game for about a year now, and my rifle is FINALLY built up how I want it to be. I probably could have started from parts and came out a lot cheaper, but doing this in the round-about way has been great learning experience for me. This rifle began life as a Stag 2L, a 16" carbine with a LEFTY flat top upper and standard 2-piece handguards.
Over the past year I have been making small changes one or two at a time as I learn more about what I do and don't want. The most use I get out of this rifle is as a range and close-range varmint gun, but I have always wanted it to stand ready as a home defense or social work gun if needed. I decided the importance of the last two roles was great enough that I should get a right-handed upper with some mil-spec, properly built and tested parts. I have other plans for the lefty Stag upper, but my Stag lower is now wearing a Frankenupper of honest-to-goodness, right-handed stuff.
Now for the good stuff! Please forgive my photo skills (or lack thereof).

The goodies are:
I did not assemble the buffer tube, and I did not install/stake the gas key. Everything else was done by me. I even bought a torque wrench for the barrel nut! There are worse diseases to have than AR fever. . .
