In last years panic mode I was caught off guard by the ammo shortage. Not .223, .40, .308, 22-250, or 9mm I reload all of those, and had a good bit of components on hand .....It was .22lr that was in shortage for me. And I'll be damned if I'm paying "gun show" prices for .22, So I vowed to myself that from now on I would have 10,000 rounds of .22 on hand. Well as of this week, got lucky and scored a couple bulk boxes of 525, which puts me well over 5,000 rounds.

Great work work man. Things are finally starting to head back in the right direction. MidwayUSA had 22LR for 7 cents a round for a few minutes the other day, but now currently the cheapest online is at Cabelas at 9 cents a round.

I managed to pick up 1375 rounds, 400 of which are MiniMags, last week when a new Bass Pro Shops opened up in my city. That more than doubles my rimfire supply, not counting what's in my rimfire guns and their magazines (two of which are "high-capacity" banana mags for the 10/22.)

I'm starting to feel (a little) better, but I'd like to get some more before I shoot a bunch.

I had over 10K rounds of 22lr this time last year. Still have over 10k rds. Not hoarding, just maintaining inventory.

The current store price for .22lr around here seems to be in the $40.00 per brick neighborhood. That's for decent stuff like CCI mini-mags or Winchester PowerPoints. It shows up maybe once a month or so at some large retailer in town, but you have to search it out & get a little lucky. Whatever it is, at that price point, it still disappears quickly.

I think the loss-leader days of a pallet of Federal American Eagle sitting on the floor marked $8.99 a brick of 400 are behind us. Don'tcha wish you'd bought as much as I did then? Having a back-up supply is nice. Having a gun that can use the stuff that doesn't have a 4473 history is nicer. Private transaction breaks the trail, I just love garage sales. Right now buying a .22 at a garage sale in Montana is just as legal as buying a lamp at the same sale. Don't know about your state, but do it now, it's not gonna remain this way long.

Last bulk box I bought was at Walmart, $21.99 for a box of 525's. I was thrilled to find it.

When this silliness started, I had over 13,000 rnds of .22lr. I've supported a local Boy Scout troop's monthly shoots and shot as much as usual. I still have over 12,000 rnds. Bargains are out there. You just have to search. I got Obommanated once. It won't happen again.

Went to the grand opening yesterday of a "Field & Stream" store, a subsidiary of Dick's.

Bought the limit in .22's, two 1400 round buckets at $60 each. Works out to $21 + change per 500. Remington bulk ammo, probably the worst, but at least it was cheap.

I've got about 600 rounds. I imagine that will last me the next 6 years.

I barely shoot my .22's. I have around 2000 rounds and that will stay that way for probably a very long time. If I want super cheap to shoot I shoot my .22 pellet gun.
