I got the Savage Model 11 package gun in .243 last year. It's a one MOA rifle with a great trigger. I beat it all over heck last year, and it doesn't look any worse for the wear.
Sure, the much maligned stock is squishy. You can make it contact the barrel, but I haven't had it affect my shooting. Just don't go gorilla on it. Besides, it fits me very well, and offers a natural shooting position with a good cheek weld, something the cheapo Remingtons did not.
My kids will be carrying it in the years to come. I buy guns to shoot, not to enhance my self esteem. Get the Savage.
