I got over 200 rounds of IMI 7.62x51 for a very small amount of money, how good is it, how hot is it loaded? The headstamps are 2 hebraic characters, with 2 numerals for the year. The years range between 1964 and 1984.

Err, since you have the ammo, why don't you just shoot it yourself and tell us?

I've had good luck with it. I've shot a couple hundred rounds of it when I got a mixed box of ammo from Southenammo. Beware, I never had any problems besides a couple of loose bullets(check before loading them in the magazine) but I've read other threads of problems of split cases on lots of 80 or 81'.

I'm just a little concerned as to how hot it is. My rifle has an 1893 Mauser action that was designed for a 7MM, not a 7.62:uhoh:

Actually I would do more research, I seem to remember threads concerning loose Issy 7.62 ammo problems on the FAL Files. For some reason I beleive it had to do with loose ammo that has been sitting around on the desert floor after being bounced around on then ran over by a half-track. The combanation of time, heat, distortion, and tumbleing clean to resell gave some problems to folks on the FAL files. As I remember they were serious problems.

I know this has been hashed out before, but I also wouldnt trust a 65k cup pressure round in a rifle intended for 45k cup. Never mind the questionable Spanish metalurugy. Have you headspaced that old Mauser?
