I guess you’ll not be considering a SS media and wet tumbling?
I dip the mouth just enough to get a small dab of lube on the inside of every other case. It is a small enough amount that you see a little shine. I tumbled them for an hour. How much lube are you applying to case necks and how long are you tumbling? I usually swipe my thumb or finger that has a thin coating of lube across every fourth or fifth case mouth and rotate it in the sizing die so a different side of the expander ball gets a tiny amount of lube.
And I tumble for at least a few hours.
I don’t reload a lot of .223 though. Maybe the smaller opening causes issues.
I do have shot. I could pick up some powdered graphite. That may be the easiest option. If I get any lube that is difficult to remove from inside the neck, I just dump all the brass in lacquer thinner. Swirl around a few minutes then remove and place in the tumbler. Hornady Unique case lube when neck turning is a prime example All other inside neck lube is graphite and number 6 shot in a small container.
That's not going to happen. I don't care about getting it shiny, just clean and the lube gone.Dump the whole setup you have and go to stainless steel pins.
Use a rotary tumbler, it gets the case's factory clean, primer pockets too!
To not stretch them out of shape, pull shoulders forward etc etc. Can you get away with it? Sure can, but you risk issues, best to lube very very lightly.Lubing the inside of case necks. What a concept. I have never done that. Don't see any real need to do so.
Theoretically, what is the point?
That's why I started lubing them. My AR was having failures to chamber. This stopped when I started lubing the neck.To not stretch them out of shape, pull shoulders forward etc etc. Can you get away with it? Sure can, but you risk issues, best to lube very very lightly.
Now I’ve got questions??That's why I started lubing them. My AR was having failures to chamber. This stopped when I started lubing the neck.
I definitely need to try some of the advice I've been given on here.
Thanks. He is saying when he didn't lube inside the neck, the expander ball was pulling the shoulder forward.
Just a Question?
On your Rinse procedure, why use Cold Water, and Not Hot?
With Hot water the residual Water evaporates quicker from the Brass faster than Cold will.
I use Citric Acid with Hot water, to help in the shine process, when through I use a Hot Water bath to rinse, and the water evaporates quicker, when I dump on a Towel.
Then put in my tumbler with newer Media
Trying to learn.
