I sent the following in to Sig Sauer, but wanted to share here as well. If you have a P238, please check your safety WITH THE GUN UNLOADED.
Steve
I was evaluating a P238 last week and made a shocking discovery, which led me to not purchase this pistol. I wanted to drop you a line and let you know, as it's a potentially serious issue.
When engaging the safety on the pistol, the hammer fell. I was able to replicate this a few times, although the hammer did not fall every time I engaged the safety. The hammer also cammed forward and backward as the safety was applied. I can only imagine the hammer camming is indicative of an assembly issue which is also related to the hammer falling without trigger input.
No response is necessary, since I do not own the pistol in question.
