I have never owned a 380 caliber, I was first looking at a CZ-83, I really like them Czech Guns, have some CZ rimfire and a 527 Carbine, and a CZ-75BD, anyways I put it on layway online, I never held one either, so I guess I'll find out if its any good. My very first pistol was a Beretta 8045 Mini Cougar and I couldnt hit a barn with it and neither could the range officer when I asked him to give it a try so I traded it for a Browning shotgun. I hope Sandy dont find out that I got another gun in layway because she will blow her lid but im confident she wont be able to tell the difference from one of my other guns as she calls all my pistols a '45 ... And I payed full price for a brand new one, I know I could have bought a nice older surplus model for like $300 but I only live one time

You'll like the 84, I've had one, and the Browning BDA 380, which is the same gun, with a closed slide. I have an 84BB now. IMHO, the 84/BDA are the best .380's ever made, and I've had a lot of .380 guns over the last 30 years, both cheap and expensive.

I had a Beretta Model 84 when they were first introduced in the market. Great gun, very reliable and accurate, but a little too wide for concealed carry so I used it for many years as my home defense gun.

One thing to watch out for is that the F-suffix models have an issue with with a false detent in the decocker/safety lever between the FIRE and SAFE/DECOCK positions. You will put it into what you think is safe because you hear a click but the safety mechanism is not engage.

This detent cannot be used as a "cocked-and-locked" position. The lever should always be pushed through to the SAFE/DECOCK position.

Congrats! An excellent.380, and I love Beretta.

But my favorite .380 is my SIG P238. Very soft recoil, thanks to its lock-breech action, totally reliable, tritium sights, current production. I'm a SAO guy.

Careful sneaking it into the house! I dropped a Colt .38 on my cement stairs trying to sneak it in the house wrapped in a fleece jacket - NOOOOOOO!

Enjoy it. I like mine but as said above too wide for concealed carry IWB. If I'm carrying OWB I'll carry a 9mm.

My 84 doesn't get shot as much these days but always fun when I do.

Heh. I did a layaway on a Beretta 84F on an impulse, too. It was a couple of years ago at a local place that had a lot of 84's as surplus guns. I had wanted one for ages, but handling that one and seeing the price, I could not refuse.

Very good gun

The only negative on the BERETTA 84 is the size. It is as bulky as many 9m.m. pistols.

On the positive, it is one of the most reliable, if not the most reliable .380's ever made. Great trigger, easy to use sights and large magazine capacity plus the newer models feature a hammer decocking feature by flipping up the safety two clicks instead of one.

I used mine for a car gun and would not have hesitated to use it as a house gun either. If I become more recoil sensitive as I get older, I may make in my house gun.

Thanks for the replies, im looking forward to it, I looked at every pic I could find and watched I think every video on youtube about it. I know its a 380 and the ammo is a bit pricier then 9mm but heck I only live once, I have other guns for concealment.

I a world of clunky/blocky firearms, the Beretta guns stand out with style.

Too bad the clunky/blocky (even CHEESE-GRATER... the horror!) has infected the Beretta 92 series.

But, back to the 84, its a gun that FEELS LIKE a real gun. Ammo has become available and affordable. Defensive ammo for the .380 is outstanding of late.

Enjoy that good-looking gun!

This thread needs pics.

Here is mine. It's a surplus gun. It seems to have been carried a lot, but not shot too much. A nice feature is that magazines were easy to find, and IIRC, not too expensive. They are good shooters and this one has never malfunctioned for me.

Honestly other then the fact that they are rather expensive new and .380 is more expensive then 9mm, I consider mine a piece of art. I mean it's just a beautiful gun. A mini 92 that was the Glock before Glocks. In Italy you will see cops with them all the time, the .380 is not a sissy round coming out of a 84. 14 rounds will stop anybody. Yes the grip is a bit wide for CC but if you have a good holster guy it can be done. One last thing is they shoot anything that you put in there. They are very reliable and will easily handle any .380 Buffalo +P ammo they sell. At 1200 fps and 290 ft. lbs. you are getting close to a 9mm. That's for carry because its $26/20. Anyway I love mine. My favorite .380.
