hello all today i was at the local shop looking for ammo and for some reason decided to buy a savage axis in 22-250.

i bought some nosler trophy grade ammo 55gr bt. well at the ranged with the nearly 7 pound pull and not a real good rest to shoot from and the cold the little rifle did quiet well. the following picture is at 100 yards three shots after sighting in and mind you it was very cold outside with a heavy trigger and not such a steady rest

when i got home today i trimmed up the trigger spring a bit and breaks at 3.69 pounds. hopefully that and having my front and rear bags with me next time will really tighten things up

Man, that's pretty good for the first time out. Looks like you got a keeper!

for sure man i think after lightening the trigger a bit and a better rest it will be lights out

i have always been a remington fan but this savage just shoots too good for what it is. maybe i should get one in 270?

no problem man i will be sure to post another picture when i get back from the range today with a better rest and lighter trigger

Excellent impulse buy. Savage makes excellent rifles. Matter of fact few years back they sent sizable shipment of carbines to Europe. These were chambered for 8x57JS and 9,3x62. That is significant as EU folks aren't going to buy bad product just because it has little flag with Made in USA next to it.

There are many people who will take any opportunity to bash Savage. But, I've had nothing but good experiences with my two rifles, and their prices are always good. Congrats on the new rifle.

Range update

Ok everyone after clipping a couple coils and shooting off of bags here is the new result

Thanks man

But this particular rifle almost seems to shoot itself. It is pretty ironic to say that I like this gun more so than the Remington bdl I just traded off.

The savage is not pretty but sure is effective. The only issue I have with rifle is the magazine will not sit flush at the rear of the magazine it says and is very loose. So much so that I am for certain that there must me a small defect in that particular mag.

Anyone else have this issue or is that a question that I should search for?

My only problem with the Axis is my big hands on the small grip. Now that Boyds makes a stock for it I'm tempted to pick one (or more) up.
