I'm wanting to work up a load for the 150 gr ttsx in a .300 win mag, but I noticed that the barnes website only lists data for H4350 and not IMR 4350. I only have IMR 4350. I noticed that every load I have ever seen shows the max and starting loads are between 1.5 and 0 grains different for the two powders with H4350 allowing slightly more powder.

Would it be safe to work up a load normally with IMR4350 using the numbers for h4350 and stopping 1.5 grains short of the max load listed for h4350 (73 grains)?

If anyone has a load for the .300 win with 150 ttsx's or tsx with IMR 4350, let me know.

IMR 4350 versus Hodgdon H4350

IMR 4350 burns slightly faster than Hodgdon H4350. What this means? I only use H4350 in my .243 Winchester and .30/06 loads. I've tried IMR 4350 and noticed no big wow difference. I still prefer H4350 in all my applications. Hodgdon H4350 works better than most in .243 applications up to 100 grain bullets. For 105 Grain bullets, I prefer Alliant RL-22 powder. To each his own, so you're in the right ballpark. cliffy

So Barnes says a starting load of 69.5 grains of IMR 4350 and a max load of 75.

That's right in line with what Hodgdon lists on their Load Data Site. Hodgdon list a range of 69.0gr to 74.0gr IMR4350 with a 150gr Sierra SP bullet. I'm glad you got an answer from the bullet manufacturer. They usually know best when it comes to their bullets.

Good luck finding a load your rifle likes.
