Soon I will have 3 AK style rifles
On the Saiga 308 I converted I want to use my BP-02 and Leupold 2-7X32 LRD scope. In low rings, which should work well. On the Arsenal AK-74 I am going with a Kobra. Now on to the third rifle which I have no Idea what the hell I want to do... and looking around on Kalinka makes it worse. I have a Saiga 5.45 coming (I think) and while I will convert it someday, for right now I am looking for a good optic to stick on the siderail and use for a truck hunting rig. I will keep it in my roof rack. What should I do? Go for another BP-02 and find a western Leupold or something, or is there a good Belarus scope I should be looking at? I would like it to be 4-8 power and rediculously high or heavy. It doesn't help that Kalinka seems to be loading my CPU with spyware, makes me not want to type a credit card # there. Really open to ideas for that Saiga in terms of mounts and scopes!;)

Do you have an eye condition that requires you to use optics? If not, I would seriously suggest iron sights, either the stock ones or an aftermarket option like the Mojo or the Tech Sights.

My other good idea would be an Ultimak rail with either an RDS (Aimpoint, Strikefire, etc.) or a Leupold scout scope.

going along with the ultimak thing, does Ultimak still make the railed forend for the saiga?

Ultimak makes an AK rail in I think two lengths, one of which fits the Saiga. The Saiga gas tube is standard length. AIM Surplus had them for only $80 something recently, which seems like a good price.
