Where would each of these rate: ( 9mm and .40 sw)

Glock, Springfield HD, and Smith & Wesson M&P .

Im asking because i'm in the market for a new (one of these), but not 100% sure about which one. Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Well, in 9mm, the Glock and Springfield are about equal with the M&P a little behind. In .40, Springfield, M&P, Glock, in that order. Glock 40's have a reputation for blowing up.

I have no particular order, I chose the M&P as it fits me best. The Colt Commander was a very close second. The springfield third. The Glock was not considered.

IMO

1. Springfield
2. Glock
3. S&W M&P, not even close, look at all the problems people are having with them on the M&P forum.

  • M&P (At least the M&P forums are open enough to have a troubleshooting section... XDTalk Forums is too closed to even discuss it.)
  • Glock
  • Springfield

All three are excellent in terms of quality and reliability. Price is probably pretty close, too. I prefer the Smith as it just fits my hand perfectly.
