Income Tax Return

We always overpay the taxes... The kids get most of the money for education, but I get to sneak 1, maybe 2 guns out.

I'm waffling between a Calico, A Rhino, a Super Blackhawk, an Entry-level 1911 or a few Bersas.

If all goes according to plan and the IRS has actually taken their claws out of my hide I will be getting a Savage 116FLHSS Weather Warrior in 30-06 Springfield, I'll keep you all up to speed.
Good luck
God bless

As long as a majority of voters get a refund they will look at Uncle Sam as Santa Clause while small business owners like me pay quarterly IN ADVANCE on money that we ESTIMATE we will earn.

People who can't be bothered to save on their own love tax refund time. We've come to a sad place when people are happy the government is giving them their own money back. I'm angry that they take too much and they spend even more than they take in. Wonder how many people could quote the dollar amount with held from their paycheck this year in addition to their refund amount?

The money I work hard to earn should come home with me. I claim 3 dependants on the W-4 but don't actually have any; I'll owe about $3000 this year, and they'll get it around April 12th.

All we need is the FairTax, and April 15th will be just another sunny spring day. Put Americans in control of how much they pay in taxes.

Amen. I'd rather pay in April than seen more throughout the year.

My wife and I already claim zero exemptions and have extra withheld just to try and break even (four different incomes). Usually pay an extra few hundred to 1,000 in April.

We always overpay the taxes..
It's smarter to pay yourself all year long. Dump it in a retirement type fund.

We usually get very little back, or have to pay a little bit. So, I have to save my pennies during the year to buy gun stuff. Luckily at this point in time, I can get a few things during the year. hasn't always been like that. Too busy putting it away for the future in earlier years. You cannot save enough later to make up for what you did not save today. It's a mathematical fact.

Refund? What's a a refund?

I bought the Feds 4 Kimbers this year.
I hear ya, I think they got close to 5 Les Baers from me, I'll have to check with the accountant. I freaking hate taxes! Dont get me wrong, I make a good living and am all for paying my fair share. But when you hear Romney paid 11% in taxes and I am paying 27%?? Somethings wrong!

While I appreciate the advice from everyone saying "pay it at the end of the year"

Having killed several multi-thousand tax bills, Over several YEARS At IRS interest rates.

Thank you, but no thank you. I'm done having my taxes increased by 30% because of interest.

I haven't done my taxes yet but I should be getting a refund. Next up on my list is a 1911. Its only been a couple of weeks since my last gun so the wife will have a cow if I buy another right away though. I'm having fun trying to decide which gun to buy though.

I’m astonished by the number of people down right giddy, over tax time. This is the epitome of a well oiled government spin machine. I guess, at least, it IS positive thinking.

What guns are coming home with me? Well, I just listen very carefully while the guns whisper to me. Which ever ones convince me, come home.

They could be getting 0.04% from a CD, right?

I wish I could use some of my mother's $100k+ itemized deduction for nursing home care every year. I've been on the short form since '97 and my yearly federal refund is $500 or $600. I know, I need a mortgage so I can itemize. :banghead:

Income tax return or no income tax return I buy the firearm regardless.. yeah the extra money isn't factored into my gun budget. But the tax return will be going to paying off whats left on my car loan.

If employer witholdings were abolished and the wage earning majority were forced to pay out of their pockets there would be another revolution. Tax time is not Christmas, it is your money that you are getting back and you could have spent it on a new toy already if it were not witheld from you without interest for a year.

Neither the banks, or uncle, pay interest. The only interest that either entity is interested is if you owe them, and uncle is worse than the banks by far, with interest, and penalties. Savings acct. pays less than inflation so I think I'll keep mine, and adjust my w-4 to balance of as close to zero sum that i can.

Paid in $26,000 : Getting refund for $13,856.

Increase your exemptions. There are many withholding calculators out there, or accountants should be able to do the same. The goal is if you are going to owe $12,144 then get things so you are as close to paying in $12,144 throughout the year as you can.

If you still want to celebrate "refund time", then just set up an automatic transfer to your savings account each month for the difference. Withdraw that money on 4/15 and pocket the interest for yourself!

I'm hoping to break even this year. Last year I paid about $750 in addition to whatever they stole throughout the year but I withheld extra this time around.
