I'm a Michigan resident and I may be traveling to Indianapolis Indiana in the next few weeks to attend an event at the Lucas Oil stadium. I have a Michigan concealed pistol license and I am wondering about Indiana law concerning reciprocity as well as any laws about the carrying of a pistol inside stadiums and such. Also, if carry inside stadiums is legal but the stadium prohibits carry, is that legally binding/enforceable?

Howdy. I am an Indiana resident but not in Indianapolis. I suggest you go to the Indiana Gun Owners web forum and do a search. I am sure I have seen some discussion on this on that forum. If I recall the stadium forbids weapons but the security does not wand or search people coming in. They do look into coolers and bags. I think all they can do is tell you to leave and have you arrested for trespass if you refuse. I know some people who have carried concealed and gotten in and out with no problems. The State of Indiana does recognize permits from all 50 States but small sections of Indianapolis have declared home rule authority and you can be taken downtown and hassled. Some of the local cops don't want to accept the idea of mere citizens carrying guns.

Do you have a specific state law against carrying in stadiums? I know in michigan " sports arenas, stadiums, and entertainment facilities" above a certain seating capacity are specifically cited as off limits. Is there a similar law in Indiana?

I don't believe it's illegal, but the stadiums have a policy of not allowing firearms. Every event I've been to, everyone was patted down before entering.
