MICHIGAN RECIPROCITY AGREEMENT SIGNED
Today, West Virginia Attorney General Darrell McGraw signed a concealed handgun reciprocity agreement with Michigan, allowing Michigan residents with Michigan concealed pistol licenses to legally carry concealed handguns in West Virginia. Since 1927, Michigan law has recognized all other states’ licenses and permits; an amendment to this law when Michigan changed from a “may issue” to a “shall issue” state in 2001 limited recognition to individuals who are residents of the state in which the license was issued.
Please be aware that, like many other states, Michigan has a variety of restrictions on where licensed individuals may carry handguns that are more restrictive than West Virginia laws.
