I have never owned a Marlin before. I found an old 39A (lever action .22) in very decent condition at a gun show and brought it home. According to another THR thread, the "C" prefix on the serial number indicates it was made in 1946. The serial number itself is a tad over 10000. The fore stock is a bit wider, almost a beaver tail, than I see on more recent models.
If anyone would care to confirm the age of this gun, and offer any comments about the 39As from that era, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
