Info on a Savage 99 please.

I have a friend who has a Savage 99 in 300 SAV and we are looking for any info on it you might have. We really want the model and age of it the most. The serial # is 64063 and in a circle under the lever there is a faint 3 D. It has a metal butt plate, rotary mag, and brass counter, the only other markings that are odd are LBC on the barrel. Thinking the age around 1906-1908 from what we have found maybe but not sure.
Thanks for the help as I have found very little for this particular rifle other than the generic info on the model 99. I have a couple of them and mine are a take down version and featherweight and both of them look somewhat different than his.

Well that means my info was not correct then so I will be trying to find more info. Thanks so far for the help. I will try to get some pictures and post them when I catch up with him. Might take a few days however.

The serial number you put up dated it at 1905-1906. This is the site I used to generate the serial number date http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm

Take a look at the lever boss and see if there is a stamping. In the late 40's they started stamping them with various letters for the dating codes. If there are no stampings on the lever boss then it will more than likely be pre 1949 and most likely be what the site generated.

Are you sure it is in 300 savage? Is it possible that it was rebarreled for 300sav?
