Hello everybody,
I am very seriously considering purchasing a slightly used Colt Delta Elite 10mm. I would like to hear from those who owns one or is knowledgable in the 10mm rd to give me a range report or some helpful info on them for me. Thanks!

I had one for a while and it kept having jamming problems. If possible see if you can test drive it before buying to make sure it works ok.

Most people recommend replacing the factory plastic guide rod and dual spring with a steel full length rod and a higher power spring if you plan on shooting hot loads. Around 23-24lbs is standard I think. The stronger spring helps with recoil too, feels no worse than a .45acp with a 23lb spring. I think I read that the factory extractor on some of the Deltas were crap too. They would lose their tension and lose their grip on the case rim (what my DE would do).

Maybe if you ask, the seller will open it up and show you what parts have been replaced.

Here's another Delta Elete and

I've put about 1,000 rounds through it since new (made in 1991). Replaced the recoil springs plug/guide rod with a Kings unit right away. Frame to slide fit is somewhat loose, but accuracy and reliability is very good. The surface of the inside of the slide, on the non-bearing surfaces, has heavy tool marks from the factory.

Overall I'm pleased with the pistol. :)

I love mine. Replaced the springs, and put in a full length guide rod. About 500 rds through it with no problems. Accurate, and the recoil is no big deal

I've been running a Glock G29, trying to find the perfect CCW+hunting sidearm, and I'm just about ready to give up and go with rebuilding an old Delta Elite. The ergos are just so much more familiar, and Barsto makes barrels for both. I love the concept of the Glock (strong, accurate, reliable, Volvo-ugly, etc.), but there's nothing like the feel of the 1911 platform in the hand...
