I'm looking to upgrade to a better scale and was looking at the RCBS 5-10 scales on Ebay. It appears that they aren't being made anymore, since I can't find an online dealer (Midway etc.) that sells them. I've looked up the RCBS website and found the owner's manual listed for the scale and read over that. The 5-10 appears to be the little brother of the 10-10 scale.

I'm curious why they aren't in production anymore? Is the 505 a better scale than the 510? Any insight on the scale would be appreciated.

By the way, the one I'm looking at on Ebay is 10-15 miles from where I work, so I can pick it up and save the shipping charges. I know you have to be careful with buying some things on Ebay, but I feel a little more comfortable with a local purchase.

Why not give RCBS Customer Service a call on their 800 number and get your answer from them. If you are looking for a new balance, please consider one of the electronic digital balances. Their prices are down under 100.00 now and they are so much faster and easier to use than the older beam balances...especially with older eyes. :)

I've used mine for a long time without a hitch. I prefer the adjustments to my 505. Never needed the full range of a 1010. I guess they figured they had the area covered with a 505 and a 1010.
