I'm looking for a sourse of information on rifle actions. Specification on weight, size, magazine capacity, safety type, action strength, smoothness of bolt movement, everything I can get. Dose anyone know a good book or site with this type of info?

Frank DeHaase had a book out about 10 years ago covering bolt action rifle actions-pretty good book.

If you are looking for a specific use for the rifle then there are books that covers those in detail. Such as High Power Precision, Varmit , and Big Game shooting. They will show what is prefered and used in those situations.

Moving this to Rifle forum, where there will be more focused knowledge available, I suspect.

For a brief online introduction, see here and scroll down to "Firearms" - Remington has a good (albeit short) schematic introduction available. If you have Macromedia Flash! installed (recommended), see here and click on "The Remington Guide To Centerfire Basics" for an interactive tutorial.

Stuart Ottesen

His two volumes of The Bolt Action, are hard to beat, but it is now a little out-dated. But, they do cover Remington, Winchester, Savage. Very detailed, but may be hard to find since they are out of production. But you can get them if you look enough.
