Info on rifle sights for my Maverick 88 (Mossberg)

I have a Maverick 88 made by Mossberg 12 ga with an 18.5" barrel. The barrel has a bead sight on the end.

I have been toying with the idea of buying a new Mossberg tactical shotgun with rifle sights on it already. I was looking at one just yesterday and it looked very nice. However, I was not ready to give $500 for it.

Are there options for me to add some nice rifle sights to my current shotgun? If so, where might I find some sights to add to it? Also, would I need a gunsmith to do this? Has anyone else on this board done this?

Can you please provide me with your thoughts on this? I am sure that it is cheaper to add sights to my current set-up, but I would like to weigh the pros and cons.

All you need to do is find a smooth bore 18" slug barrel with rifle sights (~$100-125) and switch your bead sight barrel out for it.

Just wondering why you want rifle sights on a HD shotgun? I have a maverick 88 also, I added this Hi-viz sight to mine and LOVE IT! http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=420481

With the new sight I can make COM shots with slugs out to 40-50 yards.

I'd leave the 500 as it is, and buy the more robust 590A1 (with rifle sights) to go with it. Multiples of the same gun are good to have, in case something happens to one of them you have a backup.
