Anybody own or have information on the Ruger Mark II 512GCL? I'm wondering how reliable they are. How much are they going for nowadays?

Beautiful, ain't it! :)

I've only put about a hundred rounds through mine. (Guess that blows any thoughts of it being a collectable, huh? Just seems like too nice of a gun to NOT shoot.) No problems whatsoever. I found it very tight, so much so that it was difficult to get the receiver and frame realigned to put it back together after cleaning. And I usually have no problems assembling a Mk. II or 22/45.

I also bought the Weaver scope rail for mine, and have a Nikon VSD red dot scope for it. Haven't got it mounted, as yet.

I think I paid $335 for mine, delivered.

It sure is a gem. ;) I didn't know they were that tight. Is the trigger pull different from standard Mark II?

I couldn't say. I didn't notice any difference from my 22/45, but I really wasn't trying to compare them. Maybe I'll take those two and my pre-Mk. I out this weekend and try 'em.

I know that slabside is just a marketing gimmick, but I sure do like the looks of it. Oh, and our local grocery/housewares/shoe/jewelry/hardware store has one of the aforementioned stainless versions in its display case. Yeah, sure looks nice, too. But the price tag is well over $400.

I prefer the way the slab side looks over the standard bull barrel. I wonder how many of these Ruger made

I've got a full-bull 6 7/8 Gov model and reliability has been excellent with the stock extractor (lots of folks change that part). I do think the take-down is funky but you get used to it. Probably the most important thing to do to a new one is to strip it down and clean off all the gunk it ships with.

Collectible? These guns are made for shooting!
