I just got my dad's old Golden Lark Semi-auto Beretta 12ga, and I'm anxious to give it a try. But I really don't know Beretta shotguns, and I'm worried about one thing - there is a hole in the receiver!

It looks just like the other receiver holes, with the decoration around it, but all the other ones have screws and pins in them. Do I need to get this to a gunsmith?

With the bold forward, I can see through the hole and out the other side of the receiver through the bold-handle slot. With the bolt back, it blocks the hole.

I believe there should be an action lock button & spring in that hole.

It locks the bolt back when you want to leave it open for clearing, etc.

But I could be wrong!
Don't know that I ever looked at one.

Here is a schematic for a Silver Lark:

Part #20 & 21

Bob's gun shop lists the parts for the Silver Lark, and I would imagine they also fit the Golden Lark.

Thanks, rcmodel, I'll check out Bob's.

The action will lock open OK now, so it's probably something else.

Icecorps, I sent you a message on Aug 30th. I'm new on the THR and I don't know if I sent it right. However, I have a Golden Lark, 12 ga auto. I'm looking for an Owners Manual, Schematic or any other info on the gun.

I will caution you not to shoot a Magnum load in the gun until you are sure it will accept a Magnum load. I shot two regular dove loads and everything was fine. I shot one Magnum load and it broke the Action Bar. This bar goes from the gas cylinder back to the bolt. Its action ejects the spent shell, by way of the bolt, and loads one back in the chamber. I'm finding it hard to find this part. Looking at the schematic of the Silver Lark, it would be part #57 or 58.

My gun does not have any hole that I can see through. It does have an oil hole on the leftside of the breech, in the middle.

If you care to respond to this, just send it to my e-mail address: [email protected]

Thank You,
Robert M
