Well, I used to have a waved Spyderco Delica, and it had a very good run with me- I probably carried it for seven years and had it refurbished at the factory twice.
Lost it. Second one I've lost in ten years, actually, although I suspect someone helped me lose the first one on a drill weekend.
But I had a fair amount of discretionary cash sitting around, so I upgraded for the replacement and picked up a Spyderco Domino!
Blade is just over 3" of CTS-XHP, which is good, honest steel akin to a more stain- and rust-resistant D2 tool steel, even if it isn't the Newest Hotness like Bohler M390, CTS-204P, Elmax, or S35V. Flipper action is extremely smoooooooth. It is as smooth and fast as any of the Kershaw assisted-opening knives I have owned (despite the fact that it is a totally manual opener), and on par with knives I've used with the Ikoma-Korth Bearing System blade pivot. Handle materials are stonewashed titanium with a steel-lined Reeve framelock. The regular Domino has this slightly goofy looking handle scale on the non-locking side that is black G10 with a checker pattern black carbon fiber laminate. This version is much nicer with the black carbon fiber laminate replaced by a blue weave carbon fiber pattern.
The full flat grind is a substantial improvement over Spyderco's base model saber grind.
I have been carrying Spydercos almost exclusively for over ten years, and this is the nicest one I have ever owned, although I know several of this year's new models, like the Slysz Bowie, Southard flipper, and the two Peter Carey collaborations are probably just as good or better.
Overall extremely pleased, although the Bento Box Shop custom Domino run with blue G10 scale and CTS-204P blade is extremely tempting, as is the Slysz Bowie.
