picked up my new Premier II this AM.

I was able to get by the range for a few minutes this afternoon,

It's tight but not too tight.

50 rds Black Hills 230gr FMJ
100 rds WWB 230gr FMJ
16 rds Black Hills 185gr JHP

No malfs

Mags used
Baer 8rd
CMC Power Mag 8 rd
CMC Shooting Star 8rd
Wilson 47D

It's very accurate.

Pics later

I'm stoked

sights seem to be very close

Wow, I also picked up my PII tonight. I bought it used. The previous owner said that he had put about 1000 rounds through it, just enought to break it in for me.

It was extremely accurate. I put 7 rounds center mass at 25 feet inside each other. I couldn't believe it. I had never shot like that before.

I was also post pictures as soon as I get some time.

Enjoy your new PII.

Welcome to the Baer club.

No need to be surprised over the performance. It's pretty common. :)

I've been looking at the Baer Hard Ball gun, the 1-1/2" accuracy at 50 yards is truely impressive.

The expensive gun doesn't make you shoot better, but it's easier to shoot a pistol that's quality is way above par. It's so nice when a 1911 acts the way a 1911 should from the very begining.

My next 1911 will most likely be a factory custom, or a 9mm or a Commander length to bobtail... oh that darn 1911 bug is telling me to do all kinds of things again :uhoh:

I've owned a stainless Concept V and have a hard chrome Premier II now. Both are the most accurate and reliable pistols I have ever owned. I did not have a single problem during the 500 round break-in period. Impressive considering that the lockup is so tight at first that it is difficult to even chamber a round. A myth exists that in order to get reliability, one must build a looser gun. To quote Les Baer "that's total !@#$%^&*". I think the myth is perpetuated by manufacturers who don't want to raise costs by hand fitting parts and are willing to sacrifice accuracy to get a lower price point.

Accuracy and reliability aside, these guns really are more fun to shoot - all of my plastic autos and revolvers seem to gather dust now. Enjoy your PII!

I picked up a Baer Thunder Ranch Special from Allan Yoast Firearms in Dale, TX. It was used, but in 97-98% condition with 400 rounds through it. It is one excellent 1911 and is etremely accurate.

It has made me want another Les Baer 1911 - I am trying to decide between the Super Tac and the Ultimate Master. :D

Les builds them the old time way - all steel parts, series 70 actions, hard fit slide/frame and extremely close tolerances.

The Thunder Ranch is a whole lot of 1911 for the money - IMHO, you can't beat if for under $2 large.

Welcome to the Baer Club!

Better start saving your money now, cause it’s not over……yet.

I liked my Concept V so much I just bought a Stinger for CCW. I like the Stinger so much I’m thinking about a Custom Carry.

My Gold Cup hasn’t seen the light of day in over a year. I’m afraid the next time it comes out of the gunsafe will be on its way to a new home so I can afford another Baer.

Bears are built tight, AND built right!

Les Baer makes one of the very best 1911s for the money. I have been just thrilled with my TRS so far and think another Baer is in my future as well.

You hear a lot of people bad mouth Baers because they are too tight or they don't know how to fit a barrel properly but I've seen several groups shot with a Baer that would embarrass some so called "custom" 1911s.

Update

Another 150 rounds downrange yesterday Rem 230gr FMJ this time. Again no problems but she's getting quite dirty I don't know if I can make 500 rounds without cleaning. I've added a touch of lube but otherwise she just keeps running

A little snappy I'll get better pics this weekend

and 7 rds at 25' offhand. I need to sharpen up my skills to match the PII

Another 200 down range no malfs 230gr Rem and Independance

Guess she's broken in and I can barely rack it the normal way. :)

Slightly better shots

Just keep shooting it!

My Concept V smoothed out quite a bit after the 2K mark. I’ve already put 800 rounds through my Stinger since last Friday when I picked it up. It’s not as tight at the start as my other Baer was, and it’s been flawless so far. I even shot some mixed mags loaded with 230 Ball, 200LSWC, and 230 Golden Sabers to see if I could trip it up.

Glad to see that you’re happy with yours.

Chuck
