I aquired an Inland M1 Carbine today and was wondering what someone could tell me about it. The stock is well used, but the rifling is sharp and parts finish is good.

Serial Number is 270xxx and it's also stamped in the stock.
Stock has a 1 in a circle on the grip bottom, an S by the cuttout and 100 stamped below the rear sight.

Rear sight is marked IRCO 7160060, front sight is marked S N
Barrel is marked INLAND MFG DIV GENERAL MOTORS 2-43

No marks on the bayo lug, front band is marked with an A in a Circle

Safety is a flip up and mag release is marked with an M.

I plan to keep this rifle as a shooter, it was a partial trade I have about $300.00 into it. A ball park value would be appreciated!!
Thanks for any help!!!

Any import marks on the barrel?

Sounds like you got a good deal (less good if it's an import). The blue-book is a bit low on these. Hard to say without seeing it, but I think you've got about 1/2 or less into than what they're going for on the market now.

I'm not an expert on these though. I'm sure other's can give more info.

I'd say you came out ahead - can't really comment on originality, but for a shooter it's an exceptional price. Cheapest carbine I've seen in the last year was a beater at $450. Six hundred is the usual starting point for ones that aren't total trash.

Utter garbage. Complete rip off.

You'll be lucky to recoup your money out of this rifle.

I'll give you $200 for it straight up and that's doing you a huge favor.

:D
