Supernaut, I think what you did is cool. It might not be for every gun but your application is awesome.

Folks advised me that re-bluing an heirloom would "ruin the collectors value".....
I felt responsible for the marred finish so I had it professionally re-blued.

30 odd years later...

The future owner of said heirloom thanked me for "fixin' up grampas' old gun"

Then he banned me from "wearin' it out"...at least until it's his.....

It is your gun and your gold coin. Screw what anybody else thinks. If it pleases you, that is all that is necessary. Bear in mind that the past couple of generations have proved beyond a doubt that they have no taste. Otherwise, how do you account for the wide popularity of rap and hip-hop, baggy pants, oversize tops, ball caps worn sideways, tatoos that cover 20 percent of total skin surface, piercings, and painted gun finishes. So, just as nobody should give a flip what I think, you shouldn't give a flip what the forum thinks. Go for it if you like the idea.
The previous generation is the one that raised us? Who would be to blame? Sadly since we had no guidance and poor examples to look up to we went to what people naturally enjoy. But please explain what is wrong with rap and hip-hop? As well as baggy pants and oversize tops and baseball caps not worn with the bill forward? The same with large tattoos and piercings? Please explain I am confused.

I myself don't like the idea of the coin in the stock. It is neat but I would be afriad of losing it and this is just more money I would lose. Especially if this is a shooter. But if you like it then go for it. Some people, especially older folks, seem very willing to criticize without any logical reason, but for me it is simply not to my taste and I would fear losing the coin.

My Grandpa-in-Law(?) left me a sporterized Enfield and a Silver Dollar, I inlaid the silver dollar in the stock. I don't care if some internet fashion consultant thinks it's tacky.

That's different though you had a reason and it worked. If you're just doing it for looks no

I vote tacky--not to mention loss of value to the firearm.
