I purchased a used Traditions 209 Tracker last month and finally got a chance to go shoot it today..

Not knowing anything about the Tracker since it was used, I relied on the assistance of the salesman to assist me in getting needed items. :uhoh:

Well.. I can pretty much tell this part has been changed.. but can anyone tell me what I need to use....

this is the 2 piece firing plug that I took out of the rifle.

the parts separate ..

and the part together with the 209 primer that apparently does not work..

Anyone have any ideas what I'm supposed to be using with this firing plug on the inline? ..

I can take the center plug out and the 209 primer will fit inside the larger plug, but I'm sure that's not correct either..

oh well.. it was fun shooting the 1858 Remmy.. I can tell I'm going to have to move up to #11 caps. Too many mis-fires with the #10.. they didn't seat well..

I'm off to clean the guns I DID get to shoot...

The top picture. looks like something in the center what is it. Is that a nipple sticking up. if so it takes musket caps or #11

The entire plug comes out of the inline..

the plug is made up of 2 parts.. the smaller screw has a flash tube in it and screws into the main (larger) plug..

I thought that the 209 primer would fit inside the space on the smaller plug, but there is nothing to hold the primer there.. It's not a nipple style, so that leaves out the #10 or #11 I assume.

looks more like a magnum pistol primer instead of a 209 shotgun primer..

but right now, I have no clue what makes it go boom.

:cuss::cuss:

Sent email direct to Traditions with request for information.. It appears that the weapon comes with #11 nipples, but this plug is similar to their 209 conversion (2 part) but my center plug does not have tall enough ears to hold the primer..

It looks like someone put an adapter on it. I imagine that this breech plug was not made for 209. the adapter center piece looks like a traditions 209 replacement nipple. I would replace it with a 209 hex style breech plug. It could be that your 209 nipple may be damaged. Woops forget that that is for the pursuit only. Give them a call you maybe able to use the One Piece 209 Thunder Dome Breech Plug
That one is only. 9.00

Well... a phone call to Traditions since there had been no response. One of their techs said I had the 209 adapter, but the "ears" had been broke off..

If they did, someone did a great job of filing it down and rebluing it to make it look good.

Traditions was out of the adapter, but found one from a 3rd party.

appreciate your assistance..

my 209 tracker has a spring that holds the shotgun primer in place. its rapped around the nipp. then turns90* it is a piss pore design i will tell you that. but for $89 new i didnt expect much either. i dicked with it and it works ok now. it shoots straight so im happy for a $ 90 gun.PS if theirs an after market part thats better than the spring im all ears guys and will deff go get it

thread size pitch length. I bet it is possible. You would just have to know the size of the breach plug and thread pitch. After that you would just have to get a breach plug with the same size pitch. I would then prefer to get one longer. as i could grind it down to get to the desired length. I know the cva breach plugs are a lot easier and better designed than this. you are right about the spring. but it also seems like is is not going down all the way.

ya i dont think it is either scrat. on mine it sticks out just over a 16th of an inch.or .072 thousandths from nipple to lip on primer that pic looks more like a big 1/8th or better are the cva interchangeable with the 209 tracker?

Depends on the thread pitch. never tried it myself. if you have someone around you i would try it. if the thread pitch is the same you just have to make sure the length is correct. They both will have the primer centered. So the firing pin will still hit it.
