I am considering a Light/laser combination for my pistol.

Desireables include:

Concealed carry is a consideration, though it will hardly be deep conceal.

I would like to be able to mount it to:
1) Glock 17
2) M4 with RIS and/or under-rail gas block, other rifles with 1913 rails facing downwards.
3) Any other 1913 std rail equiped pistol.
(I don't intend to actually swap lights, but I want to retain the same 'manual of arms' for lights as well, so platform specific systems like a lasergrip and Glock light combo would be out.)

What do THRs think of the Insight M6? (and M6X, finally a waterproof variant!) What about versus the (kneecaped, expensive, civie version) LAM? Are there any

What other options exist and are proven to be as reliable in combat as a Glock 17 itself?

Probably not getting a bite on this because it's been covered before. The M3 is a simple flashlight assembly that fits Glock and many others. I think that only S&W are designed for the M4. I don't like the M4 and it won't fit your gun, stick with the M3 or M6. General concensus on the M6 is that it's a good bargain light, but Surefire has a better reputation. Don't think Surefire makes the laser thingy though. Both the M3 and M6 are designed to work with all 1913 Weaver rails.

Hmmmm, not sure that the Glock 17 has seen much combat. I'd have to say that its extensive use in the field of Law Enforcement, however, has worked out whatever bugs there might have been. Me, I'd choose the Springfield Armory XD, but that's just me. One plus with the XD is that you can buy the 40 caliber magazines and they will act as High Capacity 9mm magazines in your 9mm guns... LEGALLY I'm being told.
