Beretta 92FS Brigadier DA OEM trigger weight before the swap: ~11.5-12 lbs.
SA ~6 lbs.

9mm PX4 Storm OEM DA trigger weight before the swap ~10.5 lbs
SA~6 lbs.

Beretta 92FS Brigadier DA trigger weight after installing the Ed Brown 1911 Competition 19# mainspring: ~8.75 lbs.
SA~5.25-5.5 lbs.

9mm PX4 Storm DA trigger weight after installing the Beretta D 8000/PX4 mainspring ~9.5 lbs
SA~5.5-5.75 lbs.

Opinions: In the 92 this is a must do. I've put the factory D spring in all the 92s I've had, and the Ed Brown spring seems at least as good and probably better than the factory D spring. In the PX4 the improvement is not as dramatic but it definitely measures about half a pound to a pound lighter, which is good, particularly for such an easy and cheap mod. I might try snipping a coil or two off the mainspring in the PX4 to see if I can get it down a bit.

So far since the modifications I've tried three types of factory ammo and some S&B and CCI primered reloads and both pistols pop all primers without issue.

Video for any interested, but it's all summarized above.

I just bought a very nice used 92FS, and was wondering what, if anything to change/upgrade. I haven't shot it yet. Should I just leave it factory for now?

Update: 92 getting light strikes and failures to ignite with some WWB ammo. A couple took 3 DA strikes. I guess I'll order a D spring.
I believe the 92 "D" spring is a 16 lb spring. I'm surprised a 19 lb spring is giving you light strikes, though I suppose it is a spring for a different gun.

Langdon Tactical offers 12 lb, 13 lb, 14 lb, and 16 lb hammer springs ( https://www.langdontactical.com/pro...eries-parts-accessories/?sort=featured&page=3 ), as does Wilson Combat ( https://shopwilsoncombat.com/Beretta-92_96/products/465/2/0 ). He's reported the 14 lb spring will ignite pretty much every primer. If going lower than that, he's recommended being picky about what ammo you use.

I always go with a D spring on every 92. I never go lighter, but I never have an issue. I have had 28 Beretta 92 variants over 20+ years.

Be aware that some light springs can be reliable initially. But after a few thousand rounds... A very light spring that worked initially can have issues. Not so with a factory D spring.

The Beretta D spring for the 92 full size is rated at 16 lbs but the dimensions are not the same as for model 1911 mainsprings. I never had any light strikes using a Beretta factory D spring in my 92FS. I tried a Wilson Combat 13 lb mainspring and did experience some light strikes with some Eastern European steel case ammunition. I currently have a WC 14 lb mainspring in my Beretta 92FS and have not had any light strikes with any ammunition I have tried to date.

Been using the factory D spring (or the Wilson equivalent) for years with no issues at all. It’s the only mod that i consider necessary with the 92, and turns it from a good shooter to a great shooter. I’ve never really had a desire to go with a lighter spring, but Langdon's tigger job in a bag has caught my interest of late.

I have D springs in my 92FS and 92S and the Beretta 8000/PX4 D spring in my PX Storm 45. All mine shoot hard primered Russian steel case eastern European RUAG without issues. Santa brought me an M9, so I guess I need to find another D spring!

I'm assuming this $25.00 kit was OK to get straight from Beretta?

Yes, that should be fine. If you have never swapped triggers and trigger springs on the Beretta 92, be sure to check out childofjuly's excellent videos on youtube. Here is the one on installation of the trigger and trigger spring:

To remove the trigger you must first remove the grips, the slide stop lever and spring, and the trigger bar and trigger bar spring. Childofjuly has videos for each of these steps as well as reinstallation of all of the same parts.
