Just picked up a new compact Beretta Px4 last week and finally got to shoot it yesterday as this will hopefully be a new carry for me. Here's my thoughts on it after putting 100 rnds through it.
First the good.
I am pleasantly surprised by the trigger out of the box. The DA is very good in my opinion, long but smooth pull without any stacking and the weight isn't bad either, maybe 10 lbs slightly more. Don't have a gauge so just guessing, either way it's easy to put the first round on target. SA is also nice and light with little take up. Shooting this gun is very enjoyable.
Recoil is light and easy for followup shots. Grip angle is good for me and points pretty naturally. Accuracy is very good, better than my eyes allow for sure. Have some target pictures, probably not as good as most of you but for 10 yds and first time out pretty good for me (also dealing with issues with magazines).
Now the not so good.
The texture of the grip is OK, has stippling on front of grip and back but nothing on the sides. Worked fine for me but would like to have stippling on the sides if hands were wet or overly sweaty. Unfortunately the 2 mags that were provided seem to have bad springs.
Loading the mags was easy but about the 6th round or so the spring would not hold tension causing bullet to slide right out. I hoped it would alleviate itself with use but actually caused a couple stove pipes and ftf. This actually happened with both magazines. When they feed correctly the gun went bang everytime. Unfortunately with these magazine issues I can't reliably carry this gun.
I will have to call Beretta and see if they will replace the magazines. Have any of you had to contact them? How is customer service?
Hopefully once the magazine issue is addressed I can run it through the paces again and start carrying it as I truly do like how it shoots and feels.
