Just picked up a new compact Beretta Px4 last week and finally got to shoot it yesterday as this will hopefully be a new carry for me. Here's my thoughts on it after putting 100 rnds through it.

First the good.
I am pleasantly surprised by the trigger out of the box. The DA is very good in my opinion, long but smooth pull without any stacking and the weight isn't bad either, maybe 10 lbs slightly more. Don't have a gauge so just guessing, either way it's easy to put the first round on target. SA is also nice and light with little take up. Shooting this gun is very enjoyable.
Recoil is light and easy for followup shots. Grip angle is good for me and points pretty naturally. Accuracy is very good, better than my eyes allow for sure. Have some target pictures, probably not as good as most of you but for 10 yds and first time out pretty good for me (also dealing with issues with magazines).

Now the not so good.
The texture of the grip is OK, has stippling on front of grip and back but nothing on the sides. Worked fine for me but would like to have stippling on the sides if hands were wet or overly sweaty. Unfortunately the 2 mags that were provided seem to have bad springs.
Loading the mags was easy but about the 6th round or so the spring would not hold tension causing bullet to slide right out. I hoped it would alleviate itself with use but actually caused a couple stove pipes and ftf. This actually happened with both magazines. When they feed correctly the gun went bang everytime. Unfortunately with these magazine issues I can't reliably carry this gun.

I will have to call Beretta and see if they will replace the magazines. Have any of you had to contact them? How is customer service?
Hopefully once the magazine issue is addressed I can run it through the paces again and start carrying it as I truly do like how it shoots and feels.

Here's some target pics

Some fella's on forums have commented on the followers sticking, especially when new. They cleaned the mags and the problem went away. The assumption was there was some kind of packing grease or some other crud in the tube. This fix seemed to work for all those commenting on the issue.

Thanks for the info. I did clean and lube the gun before shooting but didn't think about crud in the mags. Never had mag issues with any guns before this. I will clean them and see if that fixes it. I actually just called Beretta CS and they are sending me 2 new mags so I'm happy about that .

I agree about the slippery grip. A section of bike inner tube helped mine. Mags have been flawless for me but it does print about 2 inches below POA. I will also replace the mainspring with a D at some point.

I liked my PX4 Compact so much I got a full-size one.

I agree with your about the grips. I put a Talon on the bigger gun and no more problem and the compact came with a grip all that I left on. No problem there either.

I put Beretta Cougar 8000 (or Stoeger 8000) D spring in the full-size and it made the trigger really, really nice. The DA breaks at 8 pounds and the SA at 4. Perfect for a mostly range gun. The compact model got the same treatment and is about the same DA and SA. (Someone posted somewhere they thought the PX4 shipped with D springs, but when I changed out the full-size the original was a bit longer.

I liked this platform so much I was thinking of getting it in .45....but I caught a bout of the Signess and went with a P220 in .45. (I'd be sorely tempted to get a PX in .40 someday, however.)

I do not have a PX4 compact; however, I have three full size PX4s (9, 40, 40 INOX) and they have that same slippery side grip that I believe is on the compact. My suggestion is the rubber Talon Grips. I've had PX4s for many years, and tried all types of the stick on grips and found that, when properly applied (clean grip very well, use the heat gun to set adhesive) the Talons lasted the longest. In fact the ones on my 9mm, which is my primary range gun for just shooting, are about two years old.

Congrats! They are nice guns for sure. Just received my Nano a few weeks back and running like a top. Have been shooting the LC9s since they came out. Great gun, but love this trigger much better for carry, and even though I have put thousands of rounds through the Ruger, I can actually shoot this one better. Very little recoil and muzzle flip.

The mags, just like the Pico are top quality, and very strong when new. I loaded mine up with ammo and let the springs set for a few days. Did the Same with the Recoil Spring. Then just racked the slide for about 200 times while watching TV. Did this for my Pico, and Kahr. All ran great on first range session. I also never load up a mag all the way for the first two hundred rounds. I let them get worked in first. If not, then the spring spring will cause stove pipes etc. Once broken in they work like a charm.
Trigger is smooth, deliberate, not to long, not to short, perfect, about 61/2 -7lbs, feels lighter. I have been searching for a new single stack for more than 6 months to a year.
Will do a full report on another thread.
Congrats on Your PX4, I hope to get one soon. Beretta sure makes great firearms.

PS please try and follow what I did with the springs. I doubt there is anything wrong with them. Just top quality and very Strong out of the box. I ordered two additional mags before my gun arrived and have about a dozen mags for my two Pico's. All were strong and needed to be broken in. Just let them "SET" and just a little bit of work in time and they will last for a long time.
