I have a Savage 17HMR, it is about 2 years old. It did not come with sling mounts drilled, just a black synthetic stock.
I want to put a Bi Pod on it, and I am not sure how to do it. I need to get the measurements from the front of the stock to where the bi pod will mount.
I am new to rifles and could use some help in the proper procedure.
Any information would be appreciated.

I've put studs on a couple of rifles with synthetic stocks. I usually pull the stock and look to see if there is a spot that will work that has enough "meat" where I want to put it. If so, I get the stud that has the wood screw on it and drill a small hole and screw it in.

On one rifle, there wasnt enough meat, so I used the stud with a nut and washer.

Most gun shops have the install kits in various configurations for pretty cheap.

I just got a Savage 17HMR a little while back. Its a sweet and very effective shooter.

Thanks for the replies.
I was just looking at the stock, and I picked out a place to put the stud. I will use the 1/16 drill bit.
The 17HMR is a good shooter.
