I have a Savage Hog Hunter 308. It has threaded barrels so I just bought a barrel brake form internet and put it on the barrel. problem is that there is a small space left between barrel end and the brake. Should I leave it as it is or should I visit a gunsmith and have brake modified?

Thanx in advance for your help.

If you had plenty of threads for the muzzle then leave it, as carbon will buildup on it like a can.

Many brakes are designed to be installed with a crush washer, it allows you to time it properly if the brake isn't symmetrical and it helps keep it in place. Sounds like your brake might be one of them.
