Got a visit from the big brown truck today, nice man dropped off my not so new No1 Mk3 Ishy .410. I bought it mainly just because it's kinda cool to have, but I may want to actually shoot it, a few times anyway. Problem is, it has 2 inch chambers. Now granted, I haven't looked but I doubt if the local wally world carries 2 inch .410 shells. I have a few cases of .410 hulls due to the wife's infatuation with my old Sears single shot, so it would be easy to cut a few down, but I'm not sure where to go from there. I'll need a reloader of course, there is no conversion for my loadall. I figure I'll have to use a roll crimp over cardboard as I doubt I can get the shortened hull to crimp. Have no idea where to start with loads. May be easier and cheaper just to have the chamber recut to 2 1/2 inches. Plenty of time to think about it, from the looks of it it'll be next summer by the time I get it cleaned up.

It may be possible to use spacers to raise the cut down shell up to the crimping station as well as the final crimp stations. Sounds like an interesting little project, but as you mentioned it may be simpler to have the chamberrcut to 2.5". Good luck.

Okie.... was thinking along the same lines as Kudu..but he posted first..like a piece of wood dowel to bring the overall lenth up to 2 and a half..what is the weapon..an ishapore enfield converted to .410.?

That's the beast

Converted at the Ishapore factory from no1 mk3's. I have to admit to ignorance about most of the history. I never really wanted one, but the guy wanted a song and dance for it. She's ugly as all getout. Still covered in cosmoline, a few small patches of rust from where the cosmomline wasn't, and missing the rear sight. Haven't been able to spend anytime with her yet, but I may be able to tear her down tonight before work. The more I look at her the more I think she may just be a good wall hanger.
