Friend Doug hung his Purdey over his forearm and looked at me over his shooting glasses. "We've set up the Wobble trap a little differently" spake he.....

The hardcore clay enthusiasists at PGC hadn't enough choices. A 20 station SC course, 5 stand, skeet, wobble and standard trap,(including doubles) along with the only International Trap course this side of Quantico weren't enough.

Now, International Skobble has reared its intriguing head.

Imagine a standard trap setup with a wobble trap superimposed on a skeet course. Set the Canterburys up on the Skeet posts 2, 3, 4,5 and 6. Move after every shot like International Trap. The Wobble trap means lots more angles, the Skeet stations add a few plus another 5 yards distance, and moving after each shot means each and every shot is new, no grooving things in.

Ooops, forgot to mention they cranked up the trap a little. Just enough to make the speed new also. Since the high shots are fighting gravity harder going up, they start a little slower and slow down faster than the daisycutters zipping along. All in all, it's a fast, challenging game.

Shot 4 rounds of this so far. Great fun, and a reality check. It's just enough of a new game to pique one's interest and not hard enough to discourage folks.

Standard target loads and at least Modified choke seem the ticket. I'm using a Light Full and my 7/8 oz loads of 8 1/2 shot.

Enjoy....

Make nice, folks. I know it's all in fun but newcomers might not.

Shot two more rounds of this yesterday. Slow day at the range, had it all to myself. Shot the first round premounted, second low gun. Lots of fun, and good training. Some exercise in there too, will make my Cardio docs happy.

I had the old barrel for the TB worked over a mite, since it was a bit too tight for modern ammo and 16 yard singles trap. The forcing cone was opened to 1 3/8", and the choke to 25 POC instead of 38. Call it Improved Modified. I've other tight barrels and plenty of tubes, I wanted a single purpose barrel for singles and found it works well for Skobble. Nice breaks.

I then went and shot my best round of SC so far.

Like I said, good practice...
