"In many of my other missile weapon hobbies (archery, axe and knife throwing, atlatl, etc), we sometimes have something called a postal tourney, or internet tournament.
Some simple rules are posted and people are left to their own honesty to follow them and post their score. Just be honest and say to yourself "I am now beginning my official scoring." There is no prize to win, so you would only be cheating yourself, anywho.
So, here we go! And let's have some fun!
Let's keep this first one nice and simple. We are going to use the standard rules for equipment and point tournament format that is used for getting a rank. See? Nice and simple.
The Internet Tournament begins today, (May 9th, 2005) and you have until midnight of Sunday May 22, 2005) to post your score either to the mailing list, or to me personally. As I receive scores, I will post updates to the mailing list.
For those who don't think they can compete with the big boys, keep in mind that this is just for fun and to get people involved and talking. So, young or old, rich or poor, beginner or expert, let the tournament begin!"
From craftsman: "Report your "best of 3 sets", I'll contribute locations for free targets, and a reminder of the rules for setup, and scoring - so folks can check their skill against a standard. Minimum qualifying scores start at 120 points for 30 darts. he next level up is 150 points, then 162 points, and finally 175
points. A perfect score is 210. The current World Record is tied at 194 points in competition. The USA record is (tied for 3rd place in the World) at 192 points in competiton. The unofficial world record
is now at 202 points at 10 meters, in practice.
Set up a target, centered at 5' 3 (160 cm)abovve ground, step back 3 ft. (10 meters), and have at it. Shoot 6 rounds of 5 darts (30 darts total) in 25 minutes. Let us know how you did.

Practice Target (optionally, you CAN use this in a tourney, AND ... if you score the split rings (3 cm wide, starting from the orange) as 7, 5, 3, & 1 - and count the blue rings and beyond as "Zero" (0) - then, this can be used as a Master Level practice target.
Master level qualifying scores start at 158 (standard qualifying scores start at 120), then ... 168 (150 std.), 179 (162 std), and 189 (175 std.) on this (5,7,3,1) target face. For comparison - shooting 30 darts, all in the "5" ring on the Master target face will score a 150 - a 158 is the minimum qualifying. BUT, the "5" ring on the Master target is within the 7 point bulls-eye on the standard target, so a "150" in this instance
is like shooting a perfect 210. A 112 on the Master target is a 176 on the standard. In practice last night, I shot a 137 on the Master target (but forgot to translate it to standard scoring). 8-("
