Which is the better gun, the Intratec CAT-9 or Hi-Point C9, they seem to be made up of similar materials and I did used to own a Hi Point carbine that wasn't bad and was a fun plinker so I have a little experience with Hi Point firearms, I have however heard both jam and have a lot of problems from I guess almost half the people I've talked to and the other half say they're both great. So what do you guys think?

The Hi-point is a better firearm. All the Hi-points I have fired have worked well, were accurate, and you can't beat the warantee.

They are rough around the edges, and ugly as sin, but they seem to work well. I bought my own C9 on a whim and tried to get it to malfunction. Not exactly a scientific test, but I fired a little over 500 rounds through it with no problems, and I did not clean it between sessions. Not bad for the $150 I paid.

I guess it depends on what your going to use it for. I got a C9 as a range toy and put over 2500 rounds thought it since Dec when I got it. Really can't complain about a 129 dollar gun that put's 8 rounds in a 2 inch group at 7 yards. I take it along with my 500, 357 and 22 for something different.

There are a few things you can do like polish the ramp and adjust the mag lips to help FTF. Heck it may be time for me to do my first cleaning ;)

Go with the Hi-Point. Hi-Points work.
The Intertec has been out of production and had lots of problems,

Gotta kinda one-up you here JJ,

My buddy & I both have the carbines and have at least 2000 rounds through them.

We decided not to clean them until they started to malfunction. We still haven't cleaned them. He did get a little pissy when I put 3 drops of oil on both bolts; he felt that messed up our shoot-'em-'till-they-jam philosophy.

Hi-Points: They are as dependable as they are fugly.

Sam
