Hi gang,

Thought I'd say hello before I start banging away in other threads of discussion:

Me: 35, Virginian, upper-Paleolithic Neanderthal (variety 'Hunter Gatherer'), as far as I know the closest political/philosophical label that describes me is 'Paleolibertarian'.

I shoot mostly handguns, my current fav being an older Sig P226.

One of the reasons I'm here is to learn more about battle rifles, so to start things off if anyone could point to any good threads of discussion concerning main battle rifles I'd really appreciate it. I've only shot rifles a few times, mostly bolt action and my Dad's old M-1. Thanks everyone,

Dave

Welcome,

Much to learn here. Go the the rifle forum and you should be able to get what you need. If not, ask and you shall receive!

Welcome to the boards .Everyone is great here as you Probably already know.Just look out for that "Skunk guy" :) .Im sure somebody will be along shortly to give you some help with your battle question..Have fun

Greeting's Dave and a Big Ole' Hearty Welcome Aboard-

Truthfully speaking, I'm not into rifles; as I'm strictly a
bonafided handguner. I use to do the Remington 700
BDL bolt-action thing years back, but times have done
a 360 the last few years. I'm sure some of our very
faithful membership will be along shortly, and help
get you pointed in the right direction!

By the way, the SIG-SAUER/SIGARMS P226 is a great
firearm. Most members consider me to be the great
grandfather of SIG-SAUER firearms; cuz I have great
admiration for the companys "Classic P-series" self
loader's. I'm a big fan of the .45 caliber P220A, and
the 9m/m P228; as both have worked well for me,
for many year's. Anyway, its great to have you join
us; and if ever I can be of help, just holler!

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member

Welcome aboard and it's good to have another member from the Old Dominion.

Greetings, Bunabayashi! I think you'll find THR to be a great place to hang out.

Now, to save time and trouble, would you mind explaining the origin of your screen name? ;)

Welcome, Bunabayashi
Just look out for that "Skunk guy"
No offence chetrogers, but that's a rather pointless piece of advice. If you look for the Skunk, he will just do his ninja thing and vanish... The only thing that might blow his cover is the faint odour of carbon fiber. :scrutiny:

Thanks everyone, that was some outpouring:p

'Bunabayashi' is a word play on my last name, I essentially translated from German into Japanese-- I agree, you shouldn't have asked!

I do indeed love my Sig. I probably have 5,000 rounds through it, and not ONE problem, ever. Tight groups, just a really dialed-in piece right from the factory. Several months ago I took a handgun course at NRA central, and at least 8 of the instructor guys took turns dry firing it. Every one of them said it has the smoothest trigger pull they had ever felt on a non-competition mod gun, so I guess I just got lucky!

sovereign greetings,

Dave

Do you wear Royal Robbins 5.11 pants? Do you over use the word "tactical"? Do you spend more money on the accessories for your guns than the gun itself? Do you own a carbon fiber wallet?

If you answer no to those questions; give Skunk a month, church of skunk will suck you in and bleed your wallet dry, I guarantee it :D

Welcome welcome to THR..

If you need to know how to overly complicate yourself by planning all your guns "logistically" out by caliber and usage, let me know, I've done spreadsheets for that already:evil:

Welcome aboard....great place here.

If you're far enough North in Virginia, be sure to join us for some of the Maryland THR events.
