Dallas Action Pistol Shooters (DAPS) is hosting a free event at Quail Creek Range to introduce you to the U.S. Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and the Int’l Defensive Shooting Association (IDPA) sports.
This is your opportunity to learn more about practical shooting and pick up some tips from the experts. We’ll set up USPSA and IDPA courses of fire and let you shoot them to get the feel of a typical practical shooting experience. Bring your own handgun and 50 rounds of ammo, or just bring a box of factory 9mm ammo and shoot one of ours. We’ll be grilling wings & brats so come eat lunch with us and ask questions. All shooters must sign a waiver to participate.
DAPS is not charging a fee to participate in the Open House, but you must pay the regular Quail Creek range fee to participate in the Open House or shoot anywhere else on the range.
Why compete? Typical matches feature challenging courses of fire that can include drawing from holster, shooting on the run or while retreating, shooting around barricades and through portals, shooting from various positions (kneeling, prone, etc.), rapid fire, shooting and moving, disappearing or knock-down targets, and avoidance of no-shoot (non-threat) targets. This is not your typical stand-and-deliver range experience! You will take your shooting skills to the next level by competing in matches.
