I think his expression reads, "Oh crap! They're going to see the crooked barrels and know we aren't prepared for the US/Israeli invasion! The gig is up!"

Optical illusion?

Can't quite tell which one is supposed to be crooked, maybe my eyes are going.

Also in the top picture one of the soldiers helmets is on crooked.

Very disciplined... For being "Elite" guards, I would say they might end up being as "Elite" as Saddam Husseins - they sure wipped us in the Battle for Baghdad! :D

Yeah! We're gonna whup them Eye-ranian Eye-atollahs but good!

Hey, wait. . . are we at war with Iran?

Folks, do not sell them short. I think that we're writing checks with our collective mouths that our collective butts can't cash.
Put away the pom poms and look at the big picture.

Why do you hate America so much Biker? Everybody on the planet knows that nobody can stand against the awesome might and glory of the our leader's visions.

Those Helmets

The "crooked" barrels have speed blur. My money's on some sort of CCD or raster scanning effect causing the moving barrel to "bend."
I only see one crooked barrel, and nothing else around it looks distorted, inclusing the other blurry barrels.

Don't those helmets have the same shape as the standard U.S. kelvar one? (Edi: Idaho, you beat me to it).

I love it when people try to make themselves sound more cosmopolitan than country bumpkins/ignorant Americans who are pronouncing it correctly. Go to http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=iran and check the pronunciation key. Both the "Eye" and "Ee" pronunciations are listed as correct. Do you pronounce "Mexico" with an "eks"? Only person I ever knew who didn't was a Mexican I knew at Berkely who would switch to the Spanish pronuncation when pronouncing the word when she was speaking, in English, about how horrible America was for forcing illegal aliens to face the dangers of the Sonoran desert when coming to this country.

Calm down guys, I'm not supporting war with Iran, I'm simply poking fun at the lack of appearance for their elite guards.

I would assume, and hope, that at basic training here in America our forces don't have barrels crooked (yes only 1 in picture) and keep their helmets on straight.

Simply poking fun, not promoting war.

In fact I'm ardently against War with Iran, so there.

Doesn't look to me that the camo design on the helmets match the uniform. Helmets look like our old desert camo pattern while the uniforms look like some sort of variation on the tiger strip pattern. See the guy in the first picture second row with his helmet cocked off to one side?

I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but something about that first picture makes me think it should be a scene out of a comedy movie.

Maybe it the guys wearing kevlar with white dinner gloves and handkerchieves. :neener:

Pretty sure that's on purpose...so none of the soldiers being paraded around can take out any of the "VIP's" of the reviewing stand.

One difference that you won't see in just about any US military parade. Several of them are unshaven, although that's probably a cultural norm there.

You laugh now but wait and see if we have a land war with them. They ain't no Iraq, we would take many thousands of losses fighting them, and if they were smart they would use the RG to fight a guerilla war, which I believe is part of what they are trained for. Iran is a tough cookie, they won't roll over like Iraq did folks!!

They actually have modern equipment, Tomcat's, Sunburn anti-ship missiles which we cannot defend against (go to fast for Phalanx to take down), good small arms, reasonably good gear.

iran couldn't beat france, much less isreal, much much less the US.

their gear doesn't matter. we could swap gear with them and we'd still win easily.

We were supposed to loose thousands in Afghanistan too and both wars with Iraq were going to kill thousands of our troops. We could easily take out the Iranian army it's only in nation building that we would loose any amount of our troops.

They have not had parts for their tomcats since the 1970's

As "easily" as we are winning the war in Iraq?
