Hi folks

I am going to get a SIG522, which I understand has the same rear sight options as an AR-15.
I want to use iron sights mainly for this, and I prefer the notch and blade type, don't want to get any kind of aperture or ghost ring.
Ideally tritium sights would be nice but not a deal breaker, I'll paint them if I have to.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

My 522 has a factory front sight (a bear to install) and a rear peep sight. The set was bought both front and back sights together. The peep reminds me of a Williams and may well be one I can't recall at the moment where I got the set but I have seen them on Gunbroker. Maybe SWFA or Arizona Shooter Supply. I know of no notch rear sight other than one of the settings on a diopter sight, but in that case get your pocketbook out.

Why would you prefer an inferior setup to peeps? Don't know of such a critter anyway.

I'm going for the fastest acquisition I can, and for me that means standard notch and blade. I've tried to like the peep sights, I really have, but I don't like them (tried an AR-15 and a Kel-Tec Subbie with peeps).
For this rifle I am not looking for bench accuracy (I have an R55 Benchmark for that), I just want something that I can place shots rapidly in a 4 inch area at most, whilst standing at 50 yards.

I know of no notch rear sight other than one of the settings on a diopter sight, but in that case get your pocketbook out.

That might be what I have to go for, I'll be Googling that, thanks.

I was thinking of something along these lines:

I haven't seen anything like that for the SIG. I went through this same thing about seven months ago when I got my 522 looking for iron sights. I don't know about now but there weren't many, if any, options out there under $300that had a blade rear sight. I had zero desire to shoot the rifle with optics so the factory front sight with the peep rear offered the best option. Possibly the price of the rear diopter with the blade has come down or somethign new has come out. This is the only drawback with the 522, being forced to buy sights that may well equal or exceed the price of the rifle.

Still, I think the 522 is one fine piece of work.
