Is .30 Carbine legal for Hunting in VA

I live in Virginia where to hunt the caliber must be at least .23 I was looking at the .30 carbine which shoots a lengthened style pistol cartridge and was wondering if it was legal to hunt deer in Virginia. I'm not asking if it would be a bad/good idea.
