srry if its already a thread i didnt see it if there is.. but my question is how reliable are the beta c-mags?wether your experienced with one or you just have heard about them i would like to know. thanks

Not enough for fighting. Want one for range fun and have cash to burn? Go right ahead if that tickles your fancy.

Keep in mind they are awkward and heavy. I personally won't own one, because I feel the 15 PMAGs you could buy for the price are much, much more practical, not to mention reliable.

I have never used one myself. A friend of mine however used one while we were in Iraq. He didn't get a chance to shoot it however, because the magazine "neck" thing broke off the first night out.

I have heard that if you keep them clean (and in one piece) they run alright

so they work good but break easy?

so do they all function good ?just not reliable because they can break and are "in the way".. i can understand why 15 pmags would be the better option for the price. the c-mags are way over priced in my opinion and it would suck to ruin a mag by breaking the "neck" on it. then you spent 200+ for nothing unless they have replacement parts for them? in a standard mag u can buy replacement springs and followers atleast. if the beta mag was just made out of metal :uhoh:

Yes they break, I've busted more than one. I will say, the Beta Company has been quick to responsd and has repaired/replaced each time very quickly. They are range toys, and nothing more. But they are fun!

Fun but bulky. It worked very well on full auto, but even a few years back when I had it, the ammo cost was very prohibitive. The dept only provided so much. Outstanding fun to shoot though! Made cleaning the guns worse though, because they got so many rounds through them.

Maybe Luck had a hand in dealing the cards, but one of my sons took one on an earlier trip to SW Asia.

He said that he liked it. He gave it to his replacement.

For What Its Worth, mags with 'fresh' springs were kinda scace then and there.

salty

I love the two I have and they have not had a misfeed yet after 1 year for the first and 5 months on the second one.

Several thousand rounds through the two in total. I don't know what stupid thing I'd have to do to break one, but I've heard nothing but good things about the service department for c-mags.

I have one for my HBAR and one for my bushmaster p97s pistol. More fun than a barrel of monkeys!

If the price ever drops back down, I'll get a third one, before Obama makes them illegal...

They are reliable, just as reliable as the stupid over rated Pmags and the good ole USGI mags. The only and i mean only bad thing about them is if dropped, they will crack/break. Now if your in combat situation with it, its also heavy and bulky. I have owned many and still do. Even after 12 yrs the thing still never misses a beat, none of them do.

Oh, wait, there is another downside to them, they are bad for melting gas tubes...I have melted ALOT of gas tubes in my M16, the norm for the gas tube is 1 full beta mag non stop, then quickly change to another beta mag and run it non stop...the average is 75 rnds out of the 2nd drum and it will stop on its own due to the gas tube shrunk, twisted and the gun is now inoperable, but man its fun!

All those who say they are not reliable...have you owned one? Is what you know hear say? Did you take the thing apart and put it back together wrong? Is your gun reliable? I have never seen one thats unreliable. I have them for my M16, and the MP5. Have run them in the full auto Glock 18 also, never had a jam in any.

I said it is fragile. To me, if it is easy to break, it is not reliable.

I did not own one. I thought about it, but my buddy's broke before I pulled the trigger

To the manufacturers defense, they replaced it. Wouldn't have done him much good if it had happened at the wrong time.

yeah ive heard you can melt down the barrels even by shooting 100 through nonstop. if u unload a full 100 round mag will it cause the gas tube to melt or the barrel?

got me one!

just bought a a c-mag for 200$ brand new in the box and it hasnt had any problems at all! so far..might break eventually or something i duno? but they definatley change up how u hold the gun its so bulky you have to reach around it in a way to hold the handguard..but its fun to play with though and pass around to your friends and take turns shooting with it..thats all im ever doing is just havin fun and 4th of july is comin up imagine filling it with tracers..:D:evil:

I find my Beta-Mag to be very light, when empty. Of course, it is a little heavier with 100 rounds of 5.56 in it, but not appreciably so. It is, in fact, very well-balanced and ergonomic in my AR-15.

I'm seriously considering getting one for the M14. Now, that's going to be a mite bit heavy. But, from a bench, hip, or bipod, why the heck not.

I consider Beta-Mags a novelty item, and enjoy having them as such. Anything that puts a burr up the butt of an Obama'ite, suits me just fine. I will use my P-Mags as my predominant SHTF mag, though, and they are pre-loaded for such a contingency.

But I still endorse the Beta-Mag unequivocally. It's a ton o' fun.

The AR with the beta-mag was the last gun Matasareanu used right before he was taken down. It was modified to be full-auto.

If you go about 5 minutes into this youtube vid you can see him using it right before he is shot in the legs and bleeds to death.

The magazine worked, the criminal rampage did not.

Here is my range toy sporting a Beta Mag.

This combo has run 100% for me without so much as a hiccup. The Beta Mag is great for making the gas tube glow bright orange when you dump 100 rounds with a single pull of the trigger.

In my opinion the Beta has two huge drawbacks:

1. If you like to place your finger on the magwell when not shooting you can't do it. In fact, if you are right handed then your index finger automatically falls right onto the magazine catch! It is the only comfortable place to rest your trigger finger when not shooting. Not good as it is far to easy to release the mag unintentionally.

2. 100 Rounds in this thing hanging off the bottom of the weapon is A LOT of weight! 3 Thirty round mags will provide a ton of firepower and much less chance of melting a gas tube when you need a few seconds to swap them out.

On the plus side, set up like this, well it just, ROCKS! The mag itself functions beautifully. As a range toy it can't be beat. If someone was shooting back at me, the Beta would get tossed and it would be 30 round mags all the way!

Just my two cents.
